"Boxcar has become the comedic political conscience of the Puget Sound. He is multi-talented, very funny, very on edge, and very, very "on point" into the new millennium's poli-soc and environmental issues. Some good things are going to happen with this rare and "hip" comic as he busts loose from the traditional stand-up comedy stages. [Warning to audiences: reading a few newspapers may be required to get his touch.]"
Robin Hordon: Artistic Coordinator at Catch A Rising Star, Harvard Square, Cambridge, MA...during its award winning years...
Fearless in his attacks and observations on the simple absurdity of contemporary living, Boxcar has been entertaining and challenging audiences around the country since 1986. Balancing a routine that is as thought provoking as it is innovative and funny, Boxcar brings to light the lies and hypocrisy of politics, the media and religion, while also exposing truth and encouraging the evolution of thought.
He has also worked in improvisational theater, film and television production and live music performance. Has written and directed two theater productions and numerous works of fiction and commentary.
Establishing his stand-up career in the Pacific Northwest, Boxcar worked closely with the Seattle Comedy Underground.
There, along with numerous feature appearances, Boxcar produced and staged a weekly show called High Contrast Comedy. Incorporating video, live music, sketch comedy, improvisational comedy, stand-up and social and political commentary, High Contrast Comedy was the de facto standard bearer of inventive, ground-breaking and alternative live comedy in Seattle. Encouraging comics and audiences to look deeper than what the sound-bite comedy central juggernaut typically pawns off as comedy, High Contrast Comedy entertained audiences, offered many young comics an opportunity for true growth and assisted in raising the bar of comedy for nearly three years.
In Spring 2006 Boxcar moved to the San Francisco Bay Area.
Boxcar is the stage name of Joe Kubiniec.
